Follow Elif and her new neighbour Deniz through two visits at the door. Read once for the request, then again for the objects and the ending. The story uses past narration and short everyday dialogue.
The idea
Track the pot separately from the bowl of soup: who owns it, who borrows it, and who brings it back? Then distinguish what the story states from what the actions suggest. An invitation and a response can reveal the likely next event without a sentence spelling it out.
Read the text
Cumartesi akşamı Elif evdeydi. Mutfakta çay hazırlıyordu. Kapı çaldı. Kapıda genç bir adam vardı. Elif onu apartmanda ilk kez gördü.
“Merhaba, ben Deniz. Dün taşındım. Yan dairede oturuyorum.

Watch out
Ödünç almak means borrowing, not receiving a gift. In Sizden bir tencere ödünç alabilir miyim?, Deniz is asking to use Elif’s pot temporarily. The soup in the later visit is a thank-you gift; it does not make the pot a gift too.

birlikte çorba içecekler
Birlikte çorba içecekler: the two spoons, the invitation and Deniz sitting down suggest that they will share the soup. This is an inference; the text stops before they eat.
