Move beyond saying that a work is beautiful or interesting. This set gives you words for what a work explores, how it is made and whose voice you hear in it.
The idea
Choose the term for the aspect you mean: tema names a central idea or feeling, olay örgüsü the arrangement of events, and üslup the manner of expression. In film, kurgu can mean editing; in music, yorum can mean a performer’s interpretation. Pair a judgement with a reason: Üslubu sade, çünkü cümleler kısa.

Watch out
A novel’s anlatıcı is its storytelling voice; the yazar is the person who wrote it. A narrator speaking as ben does not automatically give the author’s own life or opinions. Keep the two roles separate when discussing fiction.

Which term names the voice telling events in a novel: yazar or anlatıcı?
Show answer or example answer
anlatıcı
anlatıcı: the question asks who speaks within the narrative, not who wrote the book. Even an unnamed storytelling voice has this role.
The sentences are short and the expression is plain. Which feature is being described: üslup or olay örgüsü?

üslup
üslup: sentence length and plain wording concern expression. The question says nothing about how the events fit together.
