The idea

First identify the aim: attracting more users. しかし introduces the staffing problem; そこで links that problem to a request for help. その結果 signals the outcome. Track who does each action and use 先月から to place the opening in time.

町まちの図書館としょかんは利用者りようしゃを増ふやすために、日曜日にちようびも開あけることにしました。しかし、職員しょくいんの数かずが足たりず、すぐには始はじめられませんでした。そこで、図書館としょかんは地域ちいきの人ひとに手伝てつだいを頼たのみました。

集あつまった人ひとたちは、本ほんを棚たなに戻もどす仕事しごとなどを引ひき受うけました。その結果けっか、図書館としょかんは先月せんげつから日曜日にちようびも開あいています。今いまでは、平日へいじつに来こられない人ひとも本ほんを借かりられます。

Watch out

Do not treat the first decision as an immediate achievement: the shortage delayed it. The passage says local people helped, not that authors did.
