Use 忘れる to forget or leave something behind. These everyday examples show polite speech and the words and particles that accompany the verb.
The idea
忘れる is an ichidan verb: remove final る and add ます or て to make 忘れます and 忘れて. 忘れません is polite negative and 忘れました is polite past; the non-past can describe a habit or the future. Use を for what is forgotten. With a place plus に, it can mean leaving something there; 覚える means to learn or remember.
| Dictionary form | Polite non-past | Polite negative | Polite past | て form |
