Choose a regular moment, such as after breakfast, and one short A2 text you mostly understand. The goal of this session is one sentence you can say and check. Ten minutes is a suggested starting point, not a required dose.

The idea

Keep the same start and a clear finish. Spend one minute choosing a sentence, four reading the text, three saying one sentence with the text covered and changing one detail to fit your life, then two checking your wording against the example. Use önce (first), sonra (then) and sonunda (at the end) to describe the steps. On a busy day, take two minutes for just one familiar sentence: read, cover, say and check. If you miss a day, return to the usual short session.

Examples

  • Kahvaltıdan sonra Türkçe çalışıyorum.I study Turkish after breakfast.
  • Önce kısa bir metin okuyorum.First, I read a short text.
  • Sonra kitabı kapatıyorum. Then I close the book.
  • Bir cümleyi kendi hayatıma göre değiştiriyorum.I change one sentence to fit my own life.
  • Sonunda cevabımı kontrol ediyorum. At the end, I check my answer.
  • Bugün yalnızca iki dakikam var.Today I only have two minutes.

Read-aloud uses a synthetic Turkish voice available on your device. Voice quality and availability vary; it does not assess your pronunciation.

Watch out

Spending all ten minutes choosing a video or copying a page leaves no time to speak. Pick the material before you start the timer. A sentence that looks familiar is not yet a sentence you have tried to say with the text hidden.

Try it yourself

  1. You want to say a sentence from memory. Complete with kapatıyorum or açıyorum: Önce kitabı ___.

    Show answer or example answer

    kapatıyorum

kapatıyorum means “I close”. Closing the book removes the visible model before you try to speak; açıyorum would open it.

  2. You read first and close the book next. Choose sonra or dün: Önce okuyorum, ___ kitabı kapatıyorum.

    Show answer or example answer

    sonra

sonra places closing the book after reading. Dün means “yesterday”, so it does not name the next step in this sequence.

  3. You have two minutes. Which fits the short routine: bir cümle or yeni bir ünite?

    Show answer or example answer

    bir cümle

bir cümle means “one sentence”: it gives you something small enough to say and check in the short version. Yeni bir ünite would introduce a whole new unit.

  4. After speaking, you want to find any mistakes. Choose kontrol ediyorum or unutuyorum: Şimdi cevabımı ___.

    Show answer or example answer

    kontrol ediyorum

kontrol ediyorum means “I check”. Comparing your sentence with the model can reveal a missing ending; unutuyorum means “I forget” and does not describe checking.

Use it today

Choose tomorrow’s starting moment and one text. Try the ten-minute routine with the first example here: change breakfast to another part of your day. Say the new sentence, then check it. Also choose the one sentence you will use on a two-minute day.
