Train your ear to pick out the detail a question asks for.

The idea

First identify whether the question asks for a time, place or number. Follow the whole message: でしたが introduces a change, ではなく rejects the first option, and そのうち selects part of a total. Read these original transcripts aloud or have someone read them once before checking.

Examples

The meeting was planned for three, but has been changed to four.
Please meet at the station’s south exit, not the north exit.
Print five copies of the documents and give two of them to reception.
The bus leaves at ten, so please come by nine forty.
Do not use the red box; put it in the blue box.
Wednesday is a day off, so I will call on Thursday.

Watch out

The first number or place you hear may be a cancelled plan or a total rather than the requested detail. This is text-based practice, not an official JLPT audio question.
