Use ようになる to describe a change over time: something becomes possible or starts or stops happening regularly.
The idea
Attach ようになる to a dictionary form for a new habit, a potential form for a new ability, or a ない form for a habit that stops. ようになりました presents the change as achieved.
| Form | Change |
|---|---|
| Ability | |
| Habit begins | |
| Habit stops |
