Moving from N3 to N2 calls for longer texts and more varied listening. Start with evidence of what you can do, not a fixed number of hours.
The idea
Try official sample questions in reading and listening, record where and why you missed answers, and choose one priority for the week. Pair longer texts with a short summary, and listen for both the main point and the speaker’s position. Schedule vocabulary and grammar review several days later, then repeat a timed task and adjust the next week. This is a suggested routine, not an official timetable.
Examples
- 先、今できることを確認します。First, I check what I can already do.
- 長い記事を読んで、要点をまとめます。I read a long article and summarize its main point.
- ニュースを聞いて、話し手の意見をメモします。I listen to the news and note the speaker’s opinion.
- 間違えた表現を、数日後に復習します。I review expressions I got wrong after a few days.
- 毎週、時間を計って読解と聴解を練習します。Every week, I practise reading and listening under timed conditions.
- 結果を基に、来週の計画を調整します。I adjust next week’s plan based on my results.
Read-aloud uses a synthetic Japanese voice available on your device. Voice quality and availability vary; it does not assess your pronunciation.
No Japanese device voice is available. You can still read the text and use the linked listening resources.
Watch out
A high vocabulary count alone does not show that you can follow an argument or understand speech at speed. Do not neglect either reading or listening.
