Use ように to connect an intended outcome to an action taken to bring it about.

The idea

Put a plain non-past verb before ように: a potential form such as 話せる, a negative such as 忘れない, or a non-volitional verb such as 入る. The action follows: 話せるように練習します. The outcome can have a different subject.

Watch out

For a deliberate action as the goal, ために is often used instead: 日本へ行くために貯金します. Do not use a polite ます form directly before ように.
