Turn travel notes into a connected account of 80–100 words. The invented model follows a family trip from arrival to return; its three paragraphs give you a structure for your own story.
The idea
Open with when, where and with whom you travelled. Use the definite past for completed events you experienced, such as gittik and gezdik, and past descriptions such as dardı for the setting. Move the reader forward with ilk gün (the first day) and ertesi sabah (the next morning). Put the cause before bu yüzden (so), and the consequence after it. Close with a specific impression rather than another list of activities.

Watch out
A past trip needs past background too: Hava yağmurlu says that the weather is rainy; Hava yağmurluydu describes the weather then. Also, çünkü introduces a reason, while bu yüzden introduces a result. Swapping them in the same position can reverse the intended relationship.
Try it yourself
Complete the sentence with ‘we went’, using gitmek in the past tense.
Show answer or example answer
gittik
gittik: the writer and family travelled together, so the verb means “we went”. The stem git- keeps its final t, and the past ending begins with t: git-ti-k.
Describe the weather on that day: write the past form of yağmurlu (rainy).

yağmurluydu / yağmurlu idi
yağmurluydu (also yağmurlu idi): the sentence describes that day’s weather, not today’s. In the attached form, y joins the vowel-ending adjective to the past ending.
The rain explains why the boat tour did not happen. Choose bu yüzden or çünkü.

bu yüzden
bu yüzden: the rain comes first as the cause; not taking the boat tour is its consequence. With çünkü, the reason would need to follow: Tekne turuna çıkmadık çünkü yağmur başladı.
The museum visit replaced the boat tour. Choose Onun yerine or Çünkü.
Show answer or example answer
Onun yerine
Onun yerine: the museum visit is the activity chosen instead of the boat tour. It is a replacement, not the reason the boat trip was cancelled.

Write 80–100 words about a real or invented trip in three paragraphs: departure and setting; events and one change of plan; return and your favourite detail. Include a past description, two time markers and one cause–result link. Reread each verb: does its person match who did the action?
