Man gives an unnamed human actor: Man prüft den Plan. Keep the active accusative object.

The idea
Sich lassen plus infinitive expresses possibility: Die Datei lässt sich öffnen. It does not express an obligation.
| Feature | Form |
|---|---|
| Active with man | Man öffnet die Tür. |
| Possibility | Die Tür lässt sich öffnen. |
| Adjective | Die Schrift ist lesbar. |
| Necessity in context | Die Rechnung ist bis Freitag zu bezahlen. |
Review passive meaning before choosing an alternative construction. German passive voice: processes, states and past forms
Look more closely
Sein + zu can express necessity or possibility. A deadline usually makes Die Rechnung ist zu bezahlen an obligation.
Imagine a file that opens normally: Die Datei lässt sich öffnen means it can be opened. If opening fails, add nicht: Die Datei lässt sich nicht öffnen. Neither sentence tells anyone to open it. For a duty, retain müssen or a suitable obligation with sein + zu; possibility cannot replace a requirement.
