助かる describes a person being saved or a situation becoming easier thanks to help.

The idea

助かる is an intransitive godan verb. The person helped can be marked by が; an action or circumstance followed by て can explain the relief. 助かります can also politely express that a future favour would be helpful.

Watch out

Do not use 助かる with a direct object: 助ける means to help or save someone. 助かって is its て form, with a small っ.
