A friend is preparing a presentation and asks where to start. Practise giving useful advice, offering help and responding when a suggestion does not fit your plans. The dialogue uses informal singular address.
The idea
Match the wording to your intention. Bence … yapmalısın gives clear advice as your opinion; it can still sound firm. … denesen iyi olur presents an action as a good idea, while … ekleyebilirsin offers an option. İstersen … bakabiliriz offers to look at the notes together, leaving the choice to the other person. Tone and context also affect how gentle the advice sounds.

Watch out
Haklısın means “you are right”, not just “thanks”. Do not use it automatically if you disagree with the advice. To appreciate the suggestion without accepting it, say Önerin için teşekkür ederim ama bugün vaktim yok. A reason makes your response clear without judging the person.
Try it yourself
You are advising a friend to look at their notes. Choose bakmalısın or bakmalıyım.
Show answer or example answer
bakmalısın
bakmalısın: the advice is for the other person, who will look at their own notes. Bakmalıyım would mean that I should look, changing who does the action.
Suggest rehearsing at home. Choose iyi olur or iyi oldu.
Show answer or example answer
iyi olur
iyi olur: the rehearsal is still a possible next step. İyi oldu looks back at something that already happened, so it does not complete this suggestion.
Accept the suggestion and say you will try it. Choose deneyeceğim or denemeyeceğim.
Show answer or example answer
deneyeceğim
deneyeceğim: the speaker commits to trying the idea. Denemeyeceğim would say “I will not try”, contradicting the requested acceptance.
Thank the person, then explain why today will not work. Choose ama, fakat or çünkü.
Show answer or example answer
ama / fakat
ama / fakat: both introduce the obstacle after the thanks. Çünkü would make having no time the reason for thanking the person, which is not the intended link.
