You already know the aorist for routines. Here you will read the speaker’s intention from the situation: an offer, reassurance, refusal, request or expectation can use the same form.
The idea
With a first-person subject, the aorist can express willingness: Bu kutuyu ben taşırım offers to take responsibility for the box. Merak etme, sana haber veririm reassures someone about a future action. A negative such as katılmam can express refusal. A question such as Bana şu kalemi uzatır mısın? can request an action now; it need not ask about a habit. In Vaktin olursa birlikte kahve içeriz, olursa supplies the condition and içeriz presents the proposed result. Belki akşama yağmur diner makes a tentative prediction, while Bu ince dal çabuk kırılır describes a tendency. Person, surrounding words and context decide the reading; the aorist alone does not guarantee certainty.
Examples
- Bu kutuyu ben taşırım.I'll carry this box.
- Merak etme, sana haber veririm.Don't worry, I'll let you know.
- Vaktin olursa birlikte kahve içeriz. If you have time, we'll have coffee together.
- Hayır, bu oyuna katılmam. No, I won't join this game.
- Bana şu kalemi uzatır mısın?Would you pass me that pen?
- Belki akşama yağmur diner.Perhaps the rain will stop by evening.
- Bu ince dal çabuk kırılır.This thin branch breaks easily.

No Turkish device voice is available. You can still read the text.
Watch out
Do not automatically turn katılmam into “I cannot join”: in a refusal it means “I won’t join”; katılamam expresses inability or an obstacle. Likewise, taşırım in an offer does not report that carrying is already under way.
Try it yourself
Nobody has picked up the box yet. Choose the aorist to volunteer to carry it: taşırım or taşıyorum.
Show answer or example answer
taşırım
taşırım: the speaker volunteers before anyone lifts the box. Taşıyorum would normally present the carrying as already happening in this scene.
The invitation depends on having time later. Choose içeriz or içtik.
Show answer or example answer
içeriz
içeriz: the coffee is a proposed event if time becomes available. İçtik would report a completed past event, which does not fit this invitation.
Ask someone to pass the pen now. Choose the request: uzatır mısın or uzatırsın.
Show answer or example answer
uzatır mısın
uzatır mısın: the question asks the other person to act now. Uzatırsın is a statement; adding a question mark does not give it this neutral request form.
You could join, but you refuse. Choose katılmam or katılamam.
Show answer or example answer
katılmam
katılmam: the speaker is able to join but chooses not to. Katılamam would present participation as impossible or prevented by circumstances.
