Work towards connected accounts of familiar experiences and brief reasons for your opinions. This three-month cycle assumes you already manage everyday A2 exchanges. It is a planning example, not a promise of B1 in three months; extend any stage when needed.

The idea

Plan backwards from something you can demonstrate: one monthly skill, weekly practice and a saved sample. Before month 1, record a short account and write a paragraph without a model. Each week, try four 25-minute sessions: read a short text; listen to clear speech with a transcript and check the main idea; discuss the topic with a partner; write a connected paragraph. In each session, reserve five minutes to correct one recurring problem and reuse the corrected form. Checkpoints: can someone follow the event sequence, identify your reason and get an answer to a follow-up question? At month’s end, try a new familiar topic with the same amount of help. Keep what works and give the weakest skill more time. The table suggests a focus, while all four skills continue each month. Choose your own suitable audio; this lesson includes no recording.

Patterns to compare
MonthFocusKeep as evidence
1Recount familiar experiences; read and listen for the main idea.A two-minute account and a short written summary.
2Give reasons for opinions and plans; ask follow-up questions.A conversation and a paragraph with a reason and an example.
3Use these skills on new, familiar topics without a prepared script.A new conversation and text; compare with month 1.

Examples

  • Bu ay deneyimlerimi anlatacağım.This month I will describe my experiences.
  • Her cuma ilerlememi değerlendiriyorum.Every Friday I assess my progress.
  • Gelecek hafta planımı değiştireceğim.Next week I will change my plan.
  • Metni okuduktan sonra ana fikri kendi cümlelerimle özetliyorum. After reading the text, I summarise the main idea in my own words.
  • Bu kursu seçtim çünkü konuşma pratiğine ihtiyacım var.I chose this course because I need speaking practice.
  • Anlamadığım zaman daha yavaş konuşmanızı istiyorum. When I do not understand, I ask you to speak more slowly.

Watch out

Finishing chapters or reciting a polished script can make a plan look complete while spontaneous conversation is still difficult. Keep a separate record of time spent and tasks completed independently. If a goal is still out of reach, extend the stage or make the task smaller instead of marking it done.

Try it yourself

  1. Which goal names a skill you can demonstrate? Choose on sayfa (ten pages) or olay anlatmak (recounting an event).

    Show answer or example answer

    olay anlatmak

olay anlatmak names an observable action: a listener can follow what happened. On sayfa measures material covered, without showing what you can say afterwards.

  2. You can recite one text from memory. To check whether you can use the language elsewhere, choose aynı metin (the same text) or yeni konu (a new topic).

    Show answer or example answer

yeni konu / yeni bir konu

yeni konu (also yeni bir konu) changes the content while keeping the task comparable. Another recitation of the same text could show memory rather than independent use.

  3. You can write a short account, but cannot answer a partner’s follow-up questions aloud. Which needs more time next week: yazma (writing) or konuşma (speaking)?

    Show answer or example answer

    konuşma

konuşma addresses the difficulty named here: responding aloud to another person. The written account already works; use it as preparation, then practise answering without reading it.

Use it today

Write a monthly goal, book four weekly sessions and choose a date to compare two samples. Use the timings as adjustable suggestions. After one week, note what you managed without help, what needed a prompt and one change for next week. A solo recording can prepare you, but arrange an exchange to practise answering another person.
