Use biriktirmek for money you put aside over time and objects you keep adding to a collection. You will name what you collect, explain a goal and change the verb’s tense.
The idea
The stem biriktir- stays unchanged: biriktiriyorum, biriktirdim, biriktiririm, biriktireceğim. Use para biriktirmek for saving up money and pul biriktirmek for collecting stamps. A specific object takes the accusative, as in bu parayı biriktirmek. Add a purpose with için: bisiklet için para biriktirmek.

Watch out
Do not confuse biriktirmek with birikmek. In Ben para biriktiriyorum, I do the saving and money is the object. In Kavanozda para birikiyor, money is the subject: it is building up in the jar. The subject may be omitted in Para biriktiriyor: it means “he or she is saving money”, not “money is building up”.

biriktirdik
biriktirdik: geçen yaz places the saving in a completed past period and biz calls for -k. The stem ends in voiced r, so the past suffix begins with d.
Use the future of biriktirmek for “I”: Gelecek yıl ben yeni bir bilgisayar için para ___.

biriktireceğim
biriktireceğim: the requested future and ben give a first-person plan. The k of -ecek becomes ğ before the vowel of -im; the stem’s r remains.
Use the negative present continuous of biriktirmek for “I”: Artık ben eski dergileri ___.

biriktirmiyorum
biriktirmiyorum: artık here means “no longer”, so the requested negative needs -mi- before -yor. The final -um identifies the speaker.
The money has built up in the jar. Choose birikti or biriktirdi: Kavanozda para ___.

birikti
birikti: the prompt asks about money building up, so money is the subject. Biriktirdi would instead describe someone saving money, with the person left unstated.
