Use kazanmak to describe a sporting result, money from work or experience gained on a job. The object tells you which meaning is intended; the verb itself follows the same pattern.
The idea
The stem kazan- stays unchanged: kazanıyorum, kazandım, kazanırım. The future gives kazanacağım and kazanacağız, with ğ in the ending. Compare para kazanmak (earn money), maçı kazanmak (win the match) and deneyim kazanmak (gain experience). A specific object takes the accusative; general para and deneyim remain unmarked. Pronouns may be omitted. For a negative past result, use kazanmadım or kazanmadık.

Watch out
To say you beat an opponent, use rakibi yenmek, not rakibi kazanmak. With a person as its object, kazanmak can suggest winning that person over. In a sporting result, the match or tournament is what you win.
