With oluşturmak, you name what brings a result into being. A person can form a group, lighting can create an atmosphere, and several parts can constitute a whole. The table gives forms for “I”.
The idea
Oluşturmak is transitive: the subject creates or constitutes something, and that result is the object. Compare bir grup oluşturmak with raporun temelini oluşturmak, “to form the basis of the report”. The stem oluştur- keeps its final r: oluşturuyorum, oluşturdum, oluştururum. The future is oluşturacağım; the ğ belongs to the future ending, not the stem.
| Tense: I | Affirmative | Negative | Question |
|---|---|---|---|
| Present continuous | oluşturuyorum | oluşturmuyorum | oluşturuyor muyum? |
| Past | oluşturdum | oluşturmadım | oluşturdum mu? |
| Future | oluşturacağım | oluşturmayacağım | oluşturacak mıyım? |
| Aorist | oluştururum | oluşturmam | oluşturur muyum? |

Watch out
Do not replace oluşturmak with oluşmak while keeping the same object. In Bir grup oluştu, the group is the subject and came into being; in Bir grup oluşturduk, we formed it. Creating a result need not be deliberate: boxes can engel oluşturmak, “create an obstacle”.
Try it yourself
Use the past of oluşturmak for “we”: yesterday we formed a reading group.

oluşturduk
oluşturduk: the action happened yesterday, and the people who formed the group are “we”. The past form oluşturdu- therefore takes -k; the stem’s final r stays.
Use the future of oluşturmak for “I”: next week I will create a new list.
Show answer or example answer
oluşturacağım
oluşturacağım: next week places the list in the future, and the speaker will create it. Before the first-person ending, the k in -acak becomes ğ.
Choose the verb: these boxes create an obstacle in the corridor.
Show answer or example answer
oluşturuyor
oluşturuyor: the boxes are the cause, while bir engel is the obstacle they create. With oluşuyor, the obstacle itself would need to be the subject.
Ask “Are you creating a new file?” Use the present continuous and informal singular “you”.

oluşturuyor musun
oluşturuyor musun: this asks the other person about an action in progress. The question particle follows the verb as a separate word; -yor gives mu, and -sun marks “you”.
