Use ulaşmak when a journey, a message or an attempt at contact reaches its endpoint. It also describes achieving a goal or accessing information. The table gives affirmative forms for six persons.
The idea
The endpoint takes the dative: köye ulaşmak, sana ulaşmak, hedefe ulaşmak. Accessing information uses the same pattern: bilgilere ulaşmak. The stem ulaş- keeps ş: ulaşıyorum, ulaştım, ulaşırım. In the future, write ulaşacağım and ulaşacağız, with ğ, but ulaşacak. Useful negatives are ulaşmıyorum, ulaşmadım and ulaşmam. Write the question separately: ulaştın mı?
| Person | Present continuous | Past | Future | Aorist |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ben | ulaşıyorum | ulaştım | ulaşacağım | ulaşırım |
| sen | ulaşıyorsun | ulaştın | ulaşacaksın | ulaşırsın |
| o | ulaşıyor | ulaştı | ulaşacak | ulaşır |
| biz | ulaşıyoruz | ulaştık | ulaşacağız | ulaşırız |
| siz | ulaşıyorsunuz | ulaştınız | ulaşacaksınız | ulaşırsınız |
| onlar | ulaşıyorlar | ulaştılar | ulaşacaklar | ulaşırlar |

Watch out
Seni aradım says that I called you; sana ulaştım says that I got through to you. Notice the different case. If contact was impossible, use sana ulaşamadım; sana ulaşmadım merely says that I did not reach you, without explicitly expressing inability.
Try it yourself
Put “you” in the dative: I finally got through to you.

sana
sana: the person addressed is the endpoint of the contact. The dative of sen is sana; seni would fit aramak, not this verb.
Use the affirmative past for “we”: we reached the village yesterday.

ulaştık
ulaştık: the prompt asks for a completed event yesterday with “we”. After ş, the past begins with t; the final -k identifies the group including the speaker.
Use the affirmative future for “I”: I will reach the village tomorrow.

ulaşacağım
ulaşacağım: the speaker predicts a future arrival. The k of ulaşacak becomes ğ before the vowel of the first-person ending.
Nobody answered the phone. Complete with “I could not reach you”, expressing past inability.

ulaşamadım
ulaşamadım: nobody answered, so the speaker could not establish contact. Ulaşmadım would report only that contact did not happen.
