Follow a journey from buying a ticket to asking about a hotel room. Learn the nouns together with useful phrases, then distinguish the number of guests from the number of beds.
The idea
Learn these travel words with their usual partners: bilet almak means to buy a ticket, rezervasyon yapmak to make a reservation, and otelde kalmak to stay at a hotel. Tek yön bilet covers the outward journey only; gidiş-dönüş bileti includes the return. For a stay, gecelik ücret names the price for one night, not the total for the whole visit.

Read-aloud uses a synthetic Turkish voice available on your device. Voice quality and availability vary; it does not assess your pronunciation.
No Turkish device voice is available. You can still read the text.
Watch out
İki kişilik oda tells you that a room is for two people; it does not itself specify two separate beds. If that is what you mean, use iki yataklı oda. Keep the people and the beds separate when describing a room.
Try it yourself
Complete the traveller’s request: Rezervasyon ___ istiyorum. Choose yapmak or almak.
Show answer or example answer
yapmak
yapmak: the speaker is a traveller asking to book. Rezervasyon almak describes receiving bookings, for example from the hotel’s perspective, so it changes the speaker’s role.
We want two separate beds: iki ___ oda. Choose kişilik or yataklı.
Show answer or example answer
yataklı
yataklı: the request explicitly mentions two separate beds. Kişilik would count the guests and would leave the bed arrangement unspecified.
For the outward journey only: ___ bilet. Choose tek yön or gidiş-dönüş.
Show answer or example answer
tek yön
tek yön: only the outward journey is wanted. Gidiş-dönüş would add a return journey that the request does not include.
Name a large wheeled travel case. Either of the two synonyms in the table is accepted.
Show answer or example answer
valiz / bavul
valiz / bavul: both words name a suitcase, so either fits the large travel case described. Wheels do not require a different noun.
