A new colleague asks who everyone is. You will explain workplace relationships, say who manages the office and describe the team you belong to.
The idea
Use iş arkadaşı for someone you work with; iş arkadaşım identifies that person as your colleague. Müdür names a manager or director, while patron means the boss, often the owner of the business. These roles can belong to different people. Ekip is the group working together: aynı ekipte çalışıyoruz means we work on the same team.

Watch out
Saying benim does not replace the ending on the noun: say benim iş arkadaşım, not benim iş arkadaşı, for my colleague. You can leave out benim and still say iş arkadaşım; the final -ım keeps the relationship clear.
Try it yourself
Complete “This is my colleague”: Bu benim ___. (iş arkadaşı)
Show answer or example answer
iş arkadaşım
iş arkadaşım: the speaker is introducing her or his own colleague, so arkadaş takes -ım. The word iş stays separate and unchanged.
Murat manages this office. Complete “He is our manager”: O bizim ___. (müdür)
Show answer or example answer
müdürümüz
müdürümüz: bizim refers to our manager, so the ending is -ümüz. The rounded front vowel ü in müdür determines its vowels.
Complete “Our team has four people”: Bizim ___ dört kişilik. (ekip)
Show answer or example answer
ekibimiz
ekibimiz: the team belongs to the group speaking. Before the vowel of -imiz, the final p of ekip becomes b; write one word.
Answer “Are you on the same team?”: Evet, aynı ___ çalışıyoruz. (ekip)
Show answer or example answer
ekipte
ekipte: this reply says which team the speakers work on. The final p requires t, and the last vowel i gives -te; there is no change to p.
