Regional language and customs vary, but a place never tells the whole story of a person.
The idea
地域によって marks region as a source of variation; ことがあります presents a possibility rather than a universal rule. 同じ地域でも introduces differences within a region, and そうです reports hearsay. Specify whose experience you are describing.
Examples
Language use can differ by region.
Even within one region, people speak differently.
In my family, we eat this dish at New Year.
I hear this custom also varies by family and generation.
What customs are there where you live?
One example cannot tell us about everyone in a region.

Watch out
Do not turn one example into a claim about everyone. Family, generation and individual experience also matter; ask rather than assume.
