Use に違いない when evidence leads you to a strong conclusion: “must be” or “surely”. It expresses the speaker’s judgment, not proof.
The idea
Attach it to a plain verb or い-adjective, or directly to a noun or な-adjective without だ: 行くに違いない, 高いに違いない, 静かに違いない, 医者に違いない. Past and negative forms can precede it, as in 降った or 読んでいない.
| Form | Strong inference |
|---|---|
| 行く | 行くに違いない |
| 高い | 高いに違いない |
| 静か | 静かに違いない |
| 医者 | 医者に違いない |

Watch out
Do not insert だ after a noun or な-adjective. Unlike hearsay そうです, this construction presents your own inference; confidence does not guarantee the conclusion is true.
