Use について to identify the subject of an action or question.

The idea

Put について after a noun and follow it with a verb or expression such as 話す, 調べる or 質問がある. Before a noun, use についての: 環境についての本 is a book about the environment.

Watch out

Do not confuse the subject marker について with に対して, which can mark a target of an attitude or action. Use a noun before について; nominalize a clause with こと when needed.
