A difficult request needs context as well as a polite ending, especially when it changes someone else’s plans.
The idea
Briefly explain the reason, acknowledge the inconvenience with 恐縮ですが or 恐れ入りますが, then state the action with ていただけないでしょうか. Offer an alternative if it is difficult.
Examples
I am sorry for the short notice, but could you extend the deadline?
Checking the materials is taking time; could you possibly move the submission to tomorrow?
I am sorry to trouble you when you are busy, but could you reconsider this plan?
Because my appointments overlap, could you possibly change the meeting time?
I know this will be a burden, but could I ask you to handle it over the weekend?
If that is difficult, please let me discuss another approach with you.

Watch out
A long excuse can obscure the actual request. Even a polite form does not guarantee agreement; leave the listener room to refuse.
