The idea

ため gives the reason for the closure; によると marks the attendant as the source of the bus information. そうです reports what Mika heard, rather than guaranteeing it.

ミカさんは友達ともだちに荷物にもつを届とどけるため、川かわへ向むかいました。大雨おおあめのため、橋はしは通とおれなくなっていました。ミカさんは遅おくれると友達ともだちに連絡れんらくし、別べつの道みちを探さがしました。

駅員えきいんによると、次つぎの橋はしまでバスで行いけるそうです。バスを待まつ間あいだに、雨あめはやみましたが、橋はしはまだ閉しまっていました。ミカさんは遠回とおまわりして、予定よていより一時間いちじかん遅おくれて荷物にもつを渡わたしました。

Watch out

The rain stopping does not mean the bridge reopened: まだ閉まっていました says it remained closed.
