The misplaced order

The idea

The record says the box arrived yesterday and was put on the blue shelf. The labels were later swapped, so the same shelf now has a red label. Follow the time markers to connect these clues.

• 客きゃくが注文ちゅうもんを受うけ取とりに来きましたが、店みせは箱はこを見みつけられませんでした。A customer came to collect the order, but the shop could not find the box.
• ミカは注文ちゅうもんの記録きろくを確認かくにんし、箱はこが昨日きのう届とどいたことを知しりました。Mika checked the order record and found that the box had arrived yesterday.
• 記録きろくには青あおい棚たなに置おいたと書かいてありましたが、棚たなは空からでした。The record said it had been placed on the blue shelf, but the shelf was empty.
• 同僚どうりょうは、今朝けさ棚たなのラベルを入いれ替かえたと言いいました。Her colleague said the shelf labels had been swapped that morning.
• ミカは今いま赤あかいラベルの棚たなを調しらべ、そこで箱はこを見みつけました。Mika looked on the shelf now marked red and found the box there.
• 客きゃくの名前なまえを確認かくにんしてから、ミカは謝あやまり、注文ちゅうもんの品しなを渡わたしました。After confirming the customer’s name, she apologised and handed over the order.

Watch out

The empty blue-labelled shelf does not mean the delivery failed: the record confirms it arrived.
