A photograph from last summer

The idea

去年の夏 sets the photograph in the past; 来月 points to the future. The past form 写っていました describes what was visible in the picture, while 行くことにしました expresses the decision they made.

• ミナさんは机つくえの中なかで、一枚いちまいの写真しゃしんを見みつけました。Mina found a photograph in her desk.
• それは去年きょねんの夏なつ、友達ともだちと海うみへ行いった時ときの写真しゃしんでした。It was a photograph from a trip to the sea with a friend last summer.
• 写真しゃしんには、青あおい海うみと二人ふたりの笑わらった顔かおが写うつっていました。The photograph showed the blue sea and the two friends smiling.
• その日ひは雨あめの予定よていでしたが、午後ごごから晴はれました。Rain had been forecast that day, but it cleared up in the afternoon.
• ミナさんはまた海うみに行いきたくなって、友達ともだちに写真しゃしんを送おくりました。Mina wanted to go to the sea again, so she sent the photograph to her friend.
• 友達ともだちも喜よろこんで、二人ふたりは来月らいげつまた海うみへ行いくことにしました。Her friend was delighted too, and they decided to go to the sea again next month.

Watch out

The forecast is not the final weather: でしたが introduces a contrast, and 晴れました tells what happened later.
