When a submission may be late, contact the other person early and suggest a realistic date.
The idea
Use 期限を金曜日まで延ばしていただけますか to ask politely for an extension until Friday. まで marks the limit; までに with 提出 specifies the latest time for completing the submission.
Examples
I would like to discuss the submission deadline.
Checking is taking longer than planned.
Could you extend the deadline until Friday?
If that is difficult, I will send you the draft materials on Thursday.
I am sorry for the inconvenience.
In that case, I will submit it by Friday.

Watch out
A request is not an agreement. Wait for a reply before treating Friday as the new deadline, and offer an interim update if needed.
