A useful handover separates what happened from what is still unknown and tells the next colleague what to do.

The idea

Use まだ〜ていません for a state that has not yet changed: 原因はまだ分かっていません means the cause is still unknown. すでに〜ました marks an action already completed. Use 〜たら to specify when the next action should happen.

Examples

The machine stopped and has not yet been restored.
An error appeared at around two in the afternoon.
I checked the power supply, but the cause is still unknown.
I have already contacted the person in charge.
We are waiting for a reply, so please check it when it arrives.
If the situation changes, please report it to the supervisor.

Watch out

Do not present an unknown cause as a fact or imply that contacting the responsible person resolved the incident. State the pending reply explicitly.
