The idea

Identify yourself, give a brief reason and say when you expect to arrive. 予定よていです makes that time an estimate; apologize and offer to update the supervisor if it changes.

Watch out

遅おくれます means being late; 遅おそい describes something being late or slow. Do not present an uncertain arrival time as a guarantee.
