Practise a concise, faithful summary of an editorial about library hours.
The idea
Identify the issue and main claim first. Use と主張している to attribute the claim, 根拠として for its reason, and 一方で for a concession. それでも marks the proposal made despite that concern. Finish with the conclusion in your own words.
Examples
The editorial argues that library opening hours should be extended.
As a reason, it cites the difficulty working people have using it during the day.
At the same time, it acknowledges concern that staffing costs will rise.
Nevertheless, it proposes testing the effects through a trial extension.
The writer concludes that access should be expanded while costs are assessed.
This summary separates the writer’s opinion from the summariser’s own.

Watch out
A concern about costs is not the editorial’s final position. Preserve its contrast with the trial proposal; do not present the author’s opinion as established fact or insert your own judgment.
