You will respond to someone else’s view, rather than just state your own. In the dialogue, two people choose a hall for a meeting; they agree about its appearance but weigh its size differently.
The idea
Use Sana katılıyorum with a friend and Size katılıyorum with a polite or plural addressee. The person or proposal takes the dative: sana, size, bu öneriye. Tamamen signals full agreement; kısmen limits it. For partial agreement, name the shared point before ama and your reservation: Salon güzel ama küçük. Haklısın acknowledges that one person is right; use haklısınız for polite or plural address. A calm Bu öneriye pek katılmıyorum softens the objection; adding a reason makes it easier to discuss.

— Toplantı için bu salonu seçelim mi? Bence çok güzel. — Sana kısmen katılıyorum. Güzel ama biraz küçük. — Haklısın ama toplantıya sadece sekiz kişi geliyor. — Bu durumda salon bize yeter. Peki, fiyatı nasıl? — Bence biraz pahalı. — Fiyat konusunda sana katılıyorum. Başka bir salona da bakalım.
Examples
- Bu konuda size tamamen katılıyorum.I completely agree with you on this issue.
- Fiyat konusunda bence haklısın.I think you are right about the price.
- Ben bu öneriye pek katılmıyorum.I don’t really agree with this suggestion.
- Haklısın, yol kısa ama otobüs çok kalabalık.You’re right, the journey is short, but the bus is very crowded.
- Sizi anlıyorum ama aynı fikirde değilim.I understand you, but I don’t share your view.
- Sana kısmen katılıyorum; salon güzel ama küçük.I partly agree with you; the hall is nice but small.
- Bence öyle değil; bu masa daha sağlam.I don’t think so; this table is sturdier.
- Bu noktada haklısınız; önce bütçeyi konuşalım.You’re right on this point; let’s discuss the budget first.

Watch out
Do not mistake Sizi anlıyorum for agreement: it acknowledges understanding only. Sizi anlıyorum ama aynı fikirde değilim is consistent. Öyle değil on its own can sound blunt; bence, a reason and a calm tone can soften it. No phrase guarantees a polite effect regardless of tone.
Try it yourself
Your friend says the hall is very small. Agree: “Yes, you’re right.” Complete with the informal singular form of haklı.
Show answer or example answer
haklısın
haklısın: the friend is addressed as one familiar person. This response accepts the claim about the hall’s size; haklıyım would say that you yourself are right.
Choose “partly” or “completely”. You agree that the hall is nice, but think it is big enough for your group.
Show answer or example answer
kısmen
kısmen: you share the positive judgement about the hall but do not share the concern about its size. Tamamen would overstate how much you agree.
Complete with the negative present continuous of katılmak for “I”: you do not really agree with taking the bus because the buses are very crowded.
Show answer or example answer
katılmıyorum
katılmıyorum: crowded buses provide a reason to oppose the suggestion. With pek, the negative verb gives “I don’t really agree”; the affirmative would reverse your position.
Use anlamak in the present continuous for “I”. Acknowledge the price argument while preferring the sturdier table.
Show answer or example answer
anlıyorum
anlıyorum: you recognise the other person’s price argument, then choose durability as more important. Understanding that argument does not commit you to buying the cheaper table.

Act out the hall dialogue with a partner. Then discuss two tables: agree about price, disagree about strength and give a reason. Switch from familiar to polite address without mixing the forms.
