You arrive at relatives’ home with a small gift. Follow the exchange from the welcome at the door to the goodbye, keeping track of who is hosting and who is visiting.
The idea
The host says Hoş geldin to one familiar person, or Hoş geldiniz to several people or one person addressed politely. The guest replies Hoş bulduk, even when arriving alone: learn it as a set response. In this visit, Buyurun, içeri geçin invites the guests inside; Size çikolata getirdim offers the chocolate they brought. A gift is part of this example, not a requirement for every visit.
Examples
- Size çikolata getirdim.I brought you some chocolate.

Watch out
Do not echo Hoş geldiniz back to your host: that would welcome the person who is already at home. Keep hoş separate in both hoş geldiniz and hoş bulduk. At the end, the departing guest can say Hoşça kalın; the host replies Güle güle.
