Use özlemek to talk about people, places and shared activities you miss. You will identify who feels the longing and practise present, past and future forms.
The idea
The person who misses someone is the subject of özlemek. A specific person or thing missed takes the accusative: seni, ailemi, eski mahallemizi. In özlüyorum, the final e of özle- becomes ü before -yor; compare özledim and özlerim. The future has a linking y: özleyecek. Its k becomes ğ in özleyeceğim and özleyeceğiz. The negative present is özlemiyorum. To name an activity you miss, use a verbal noun in the accusative: yemek yapmayı özlemek.

Watch out
Seni özlüyorum means I miss you: seni is the person missed, not the person feeling the longing. Nor does this verb mean failing to catch transport: otobüsü kaçırmak means to miss the bus; otobüsü özlemek would express longing for it.
