Use kızmak to describe getting angry with a person or at a situation. Compare a reaction now with a usual reaction, and practise reassuring someone that you are not angry.
The idea
The target of anger takes the dative: sana kızmak, gürültüye kızmak. The stem kız- stays unchanged in kızıyorum and kızdım. The aorist is kızarım, useful for habitual reactions; the future is kızacağım, with ğ before the first-person ending. The negative forms include kızmıyorum and kızmadım; to one person, say kızma for “do not get angry”.
| Person | Present continuous | Past | Future | Aorist |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ben | kızıyorum | kızdım | kızacağım | kızarım |
| sen | kızıyorsun | kızdın | kızacaksın | kızarsın |
| o | kızıyor | kızdı | kızacak | kızar |
| biz | kızıyoruz | kızdık | kızacağız | kızarız |
| siz | kızıyorsunuz | kızdınız | kızacaksınız | kızarsınız |
| onlar | kızıyorlar | kızdılar | kızacaklar | kızarlar |

Watch out
Do not transfer the object pattern of English “blame you” to this verb: sana kızıyorum means “I am angry with you”; seni kızıyorum is wrong. Also keep the dotless ı in kızarım: the aorist is not kızırım.
Try it yourself
Complete with the dative form of “you”: I am not angry with you.
