A useful symptom report says what you feel and when it happens. This B1 word set connects health vocabulary with short phrases for a conversation at an appointment.
The idea
Learn symptom names with their usual phrases: öksürük → öksürüğüm var (I have a cough), ateş → ateşim var (I have a fever). A compound symptom name takes the possessive ending on its last word: mide bulantısı → mide bulantım var. The corresponding verb phrase is midem bulanıyor. Add iki gündür for a symptom continuing for two days, or dün başladı to say it started yesterday.

Watch out
Do not use ağrıyor for every symptom. Midem ağrıyor says that your stomach hurts; midem bulanıyor says you feel nauseous. These describe different sensations, so the verb changes the message.
Try it yourself
Choose the noun naming a symptom: öksürük or öksürmek.
Show answer or example answer
öksürük
öksürük: this names the symptom, a cough. Öksürmek names the action, to cough, so it is not the noun requested.
Complete “I have a fever” using ateş. Write only the missing word.
Show answer or example answer
ateşim
ateşim: the ending identifies whose fever it is. With var, the completed sentence means “I have a fever”; ateş here does not mean a fire.
Say “I feel nauseous” now, using either a verb or a symptom noun.
Show answer or example answer
Midem bulanıyor / Mide bulantım var
Midem bulanıyor / Mide bulantım var: both express nausea now. In the first, the stomach is the subject of the verb; in the second, the speaker has the named symptom.
Complete: I want to make an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow.
Show answer or example answer
randevu
randevu: the speaker wants an arranged meeting time. With almak, it means making an appointment; hastalık would name an illness, not a booking.

Invent a short appointment conversation. Name two symptoms, say when one started, and ask when the other occurs. Express nausea once with a noun and once with a verb.
