A delivery missed at home

The idea

The notice says a delivery was attempted. ～てありました describes information left written on it; ～てもらう expresses having someone deliver again. Mika requests the next evening and receives the parcel.

• ミカさんが家いえに帰かえると、ポストに不在票ふざいひょうが入はいっていました。When Mika got home, a missed-delivery notice was in the mailbox.
• 昼ひるに荷物にもつが届とどきましたが、家いえには誰だれもいませんでした。A parcel arrived at noon, but nobody was home.
• 不在票ふざいひょうには、もう一度いちど届とどけてもらうための電話番号でんわばんごうが書かいてありました。The notice had a phone number for requesting another delivery.
• ミカさんは電話でんわして、次つぎの日ひの夜よるに届とどけてほしいと頼たのみました。Mika called and asked for delivery the next evening.
• 次つぎの日ひ、ミカさんは家いえで待まち、荷物にもつを受うけ取とりました。The next day, Mika waited at home and received the parcel.
• 箱はこの中なかには、友達ともだちからの誕生日たんじょうびプレゼントが入はいっていました。Inside the box was a birthday present from a friend.

Watch out

届きました marks the parcel’s arrival, not its receipt: nobody was home then.
