You will greet the people next door, say that you have just moved in, ask where they live and answer politely.
The idea
With a neighbour you do not know yet, use the polite siz forms: komşunuz (your neighbour), oturuyorsunuz (you live). To say who you are, put the person ending on that form: Ben yeni komşunuzum. Say where you live with oturmak and the locative: Yan dairede oturuyorum. To someone who has just moved in, say Yeni eviniz hayırlı olsun; they answer Teşekkür ederiz.
| Address | Your neighbour | I am your neighbour | You live |
|---|---|---|---|
| siz | komşunuz | komşunuzum | oturuyorsunuz |
| sen | komşun | komşunum | oturuyorsun |
Examples

Watch out
komşum means "my neighbour" (Bu benim komşum). To say that you are the neighbour you need both parts: komşu + -nuz (your) + -um (I am) = komşunuzum. Do not use sen forms such as oturuyorsun with a stranger until they offer them.
Try it yourself
Say: I am your new neighbour. Build it from komşu (neighbour).
Show answer or example answer
komşunuzum
komşunuzum: komşu + -nuz (your, with the buffer n after a vowel) + -um (I am); komşum alone would mean "my neighbour".
Congratulate a stranger on their new home. Add the polite your to ev (home).
Show answer or example answer
eviniz
eviniz: ev ends in a consonant and its vowel e is front, so polite "your" is -iniz.
Say that we have just moved here: put taşınmak (to move house) in the past, with we.
Show answer or example answer
taşındık
taşındık: taşın- ends in the voiced sound n, so the past is -dı with the back vowel, and -k means "we".
Which floor do you (polite) live on? Put oturmak (to live) in the present.
Show answer or example answer
oturuyorsunuz
oturuyorsunuz: otur- + -uyor (present continuous, vowel u by harmony) + -sunuz (you, polite).
