This B1 word set helps you read residence-related labels and ask about documents. The examples are invented language practice, not application instructions. The sources link to official information.

The idea

Read the whole label: the last noun names the thing, and the first narrows its meaning. In başvuru formu, it is a form for an application; randevu tarihi names the date of an appointment. Keep these combinations together. In ikamet izni, izin loses its second vowel before the ending: izni.

Watch out

Do not translate Randevum var as “I have a residence permit”: it says you have an appointment. Başvuru is an application, randevu an appointment and ikamet izni a residence permit; these words are not interchangeable.

Try it yourself

  1. Complete “residence permit”: ikamet ___ (use izin).

    Show answer or example answer

    izni

izni: the phrase names a permit for residence. Adding the ending to izin removes the second i, so the result is not izini.

  2. Complete “application form”: başvuru ___ (use form).

    Show answer or example answer

    formu

formu: the clue asks for the document to fill in. A number would be numarası; here form takes -u after its rounded back vowel.

  3. Complete “appointment date”: randevu ___ (use tarih).

    Show answer or example answer

    tarihi

tarihi: a calendar day belongs under a date label. Saat would give a time of day, which is different information.

  4. Complete “renewal application”: ___ başvurusu. Choose uzatma or randevu.

    Show answer or example answer

    uzatma

uzatma: the clue is extension or renewal, so uzatma başvurusu fits. Randevu names an appointment and would not convey that meaning.
