You will ask for a mobile line, clarify a data package and request a credit top-up. The situations and quantities are invented for language practice; they do not describe a current offer.

The idea

Hat almak istiyorum asks for a mobile line. Faturalı means billed service; faturasız means prepaid. Keep three requests separate: kaç gigabayt asks about data allowance, kaç gün geçerli about validity in days, and lira yüklemek about adding money to your balance. Hattıma means “to my line”; keep both letters in tt.

Examples

  • Ben faturasız hat istiyorum.I would like a prepaid mobile line.
  • Bu pakette internet var. This package includes data.
  • Hattıma lira yüklemek istiyorum.I would like to add credit to my mobile line.
  • Hat almak istiyorum.I would like to get a mobile line.
  • Bu paket kaç gün geçerli? How many days is this package valid for?
  • Pakette kaç gigabayt internet var?How many gigabytes of data does the package include?
  • Faturalı mı, faturasız mı?Postpaid or prepaid?
  • SIM kart ne kadar? How much is the SIM card?

Read-aloud uses a synthetic Turkish voice available on your device. Voice quality and availability vary; it does not assess your pronunciation.

Watch out

Do not read faturasız as “free”: ücretsiz means free of charge. Also distinguish credit from data: lira measures money, while gigabayt measures data. A request to add credit does not name a particular data package.

Try it yourself

  1. I do not want a bill every month. I want a ___ line. Choose faturalı or faturasız.

    Show answer or example answer

    faturasız

faturasız: the speaker rejects a monthly bill, so prepaid fits the request. Faturalı would choose the billing arrangement the speaker does not want.

  2. This package includes ten ___ of data. Choose gigabayt or gün.

    Show answer or example answer

    gigabayt

gigabayt: the gap names the unit for the internet allowance. Ten days would describe a duration; after on, the Turkish unit stays singular.

  3. I want to ___ credit to my line. Choose yüklemek or aramak.

    Show answer or example answer

    yüklemek

yüklemek: money is being added to the line’s balance. Aramak means to call or look for something, so it cannot express this top-up.

  4. For how many ___ is this package valid? Choose gün or gigabayt.

    Show answer or example answer

    gün

gün: geçerli asks how long the package remains valid here. The missing unit is days, not the amount of data available.

Use it today

In pairs, play a customer and a shop assistant. Request a prepaid line, ask about data and validity, then request a top-up. Invent the package details for the exercise and swap roles.
