Use karşılaşmak for coming across a person or a situation. A meeting may be unexpected; a difficulty may also be anticipated. The table gives forms for “I” and “we”.
The idea
The person or situation encountered takes ile or its attached form: komşumla, bir sorunla. With pronouns, use benimle, seninle, onunla. The verb keeps its stem karşılaş- in karşılaşıyorum and karşılaşırım. An arranged meeting is usually expressed with buluşmak; karşılaşmak alone does not say that anyone arranged it.

Watch out
Do not turn the person into a direct object: say seninle karşılaştım, not seni karşılaştım. By contrast, seni karşıladım means “I welcomed you / met you on arrival”. The extra ş changes the verb and the way its complement is formed.
Try it yourself
Complete in the past for “I”: yesterday I ran into an old friend at the stop.

karşılaştım
karşılaştım: the encounter happened yesterday, and the speaker is “I”. After the voiceless ş, the past ending begins with t; final -m identifies the speaker.
Use the future for “we”: we will encounter some difficulties in the new project.

karşılaşacağız
karşılaşacağız: the subject is “we” and the difficulties lie ahead. The future ending takes a after this stem; its k becomes ğ before the vowel of the person ending.
Complete with the form of “you” needed here: I ran into you just now.

seninle / senin ile
seninle or senin ile: the person encountered is “you”. This pronoun uses senin before ile, so simply adding -le to sen does not give the standard written form.
Choose the verb for welcoming guests, then use the past for “we”.

karşıladık
karşıladık: we received the guests at the door. Konukları names the people welcomed as a direct object, so the verb is karşılamak, with past -dı and “we” -k.
