A short interview at the library

The idea

A question with どうして asks for a reason; から explains why. 以前 and 今 contrast the former schedule with the current one, while これから points to a future plan.

• 司会しかい：今日きょうは、町まちの図書館としょかんで働はたらく佐藤さとうさんにお話はなしを聞ききます。Today we talk to Sato, who works at the town library.
• 司会しかい：どうしてこの仕事しごとを選えらんだのですか。Why did you choose this job?
• 佐藤さとう：子こどもの頃ころ、本ほんを通とおして世界せかいが広ひろがったからです。Because books broadened my world when I was a child.
• 佐藤さとう：その経験けいけんを、ほかの人ひとにも伝つたえたいと思おもいました。I wanted to share that experience with others, too.
• 司会しかい：読よみ聞きかせの会かいは、いつ開ひらいていますか。When do you hold the reading-aloud sessions?
• 佐藤さとう：以前いぜんは金曜日きんようびでしたが、今いまは土曜日どようびの午後ごごです。It used to be on Fridays, but now it is on Saturday afternoons.
• 司会しかい：これから、どんなことをしたいですか。What would you like to do in the future?
• 佐藤さとう：本ほんを届とどける活動かつどうを始はじめて、図書館としょかんに来こられない人ひとを助たすけたいです。I want to start delivering books to help people who cannot come to the library.

Watch out

Friday is the old day, not the current one. The wish to deliver books is a future plan, not an existing service.
