A friend has not heard from you for a while. This B1 workshop helps you turn separate updates into an email that also invites a reply. Read the model, then replace its news with your own.
The idea
Use a short subject line, a greeting, a paragraph of news, questions for your friend and a closing before your name. In the body, connect an event to a detail or a reason instead of listing unrelated facts. Bu yüzden introduces a result; ama introduces a contrast. Ask something specific, such as Senin yeni işin nasıl gidiyor?, to give your friend an easy starting point for a reply.

Konu: Benden haberler
Merhaba Derya,
Sevgiler, Ece

Watch out
When you already address this friend as sen, keep that form throughout: nasılsın, işin, yaz. Switching to nasılsınız midway creates unexpected distance. An informal tone still uses standard spelling: konuşabilir miyiz has a space before the question particle; Bana da keeps da separate.
Try it yourself
You and Derya use sen with each other. Change only the final word to match this familiar form of address.
Show answer or example answer
nasılsın
nasılsın: you are asking one person how they are using the familiar form. Nasılsınız would address several people or use a polite form for one person; the task establishes that you already use sen together.
Being busy caused the silence. Choose a phrase from the brackets to connect cause and result; write only that phrase.
Show answer or example answer
bu yüzden / bu nedenle
bu yüzden or bu nedenle: being busy explains the failure to write, so the second clause is a consequence. Ama would suggest a contrast, whereas these two facts support each other.
Complete the question meaning “Can we talk on Saturday afternoon?” Write the question particle with the ending for “we”.
Show answer or example answer
miyiz
miyiz: the proposed conversation includes both writer and reader, so the question needs “we”. The vowel in konuşabilir selects mi; y links it to -iz. Misin would ask about “you” alone.
Choose a warm, affectionate closing from the brackets for an email to a close friend. Write only the closing.
Show answer or example answer
Sevgiler / Sevgilerimle
Sevgiler or Sevgilerimle: either expresses affection before the signature and fits the close relationship specified here. Saygılarımla conveys a more formal, respectful distance; it is not a spelling error, but it changes the tone.

Write 90–120 words to a friend you have not contacted recently. Include a subject, a greeting, two updates with a reason or detail, two questions, a warm closing and your name. Read it again: can your friend answer both questions, and does your form of address stay consistent?
