This B1 role-play follows three moments at a bank: an account enquiry, a transfer question and a card problem. The dialogues are invented for language practice. Read the message carefully before drawing a conclusion.

The idea

Name the action first: hesap açmak istiyorum expresses a wish to open an account; şifre belirlemek istiyorum asks to set a PIN in the card context. Then ask for the missing information: hangi belgeler asks which documents, ücret var mı whether there is a fee. Havale is a transfer within one bank; EFT is used for transfers between banks. Bu işlem havale mi, EFT mi? asks which of these two types the transaction is.

Watch out

Kartınız kullanıma kapalı describes the card as unavailable for use. It does not itself say that the account has been closed or explain the cause. Do not replace kart with hesap when reporting the message. Bu mesaj ne anlama geliyor? asks for its meaning without guessing.

Try it yourself

  1. You want to open an account. Choose the missing verb.

    Show answer or example answer

    açmak

açmak: the customer wants to start a new banking relationship by opening an account. Kapatmak would request the opposite action: closing it.

  2. Ask whether the transaction costs anything. Choose the missing noun.

    Show answer or example answer

    ücret

ücret: the question is about a charge for this transaction. Şifre would name a PIN or password, not a payment.

  3. The message says the card cannot be used. Complete it.

    Show answer or example answer

    kapalı

kapalı: the clue says the card cannot be used, so açık would reverse the message. The sentence concerns card use and gives no reason for the restriction.

  4. You do not understand the text on the screen. Ask what the message means.

    Show answer or example answer

    mesaj

mesaj: it is the text on the screen whose meaning is unclear. Hesap would change the subject to the account itself.
