You will conjugate yazmak in the present, past and future, add the negative, and say what you write and where.
The idea
The stem of yazmak is yaz-, and it never changes. After it, -yor needs a vowel, and harmony after a gives ı: yaz-ıyor-um. The past is -dı, with a d because z is voiced: yazdım. The future is -acak, and its k becomes ğ before a vowel: yazacağım. The negative -mı- comes right after the stem: yazmıyorum, yazmadım. What you write on takes -e/-a: tahtaya yazmak.

| onlar | yazıyorlar | yazdılar | yazacaklar |

Watch out
Learners who know yaptım and baktım copy the hard t and write yaztım, or they drop the linking vowel and write yazyorum. The z is voiced, so the past starts with d, and -yor cannot follow a consonant directly: yazdım, yazıyorum. Do not confuse the verb with the noun yazı (a text, writing).
